In March, the Copper Mountain Foundation hosted a four-day Traditional Arts Headdress Workshop led by Sugpiaq/Alutiiq artist Amelia Mavis Simeonoff. Ten shareholders and family members participated in the class, spending time learning traditional sewing techniques while creating their own headdresses.
Throughout the workshop, participants shared stories, visited with one another, and strengthened connections through culture and creativity.
The class provided an opportunity to learn from a talented Alutiiq artist while helping preserve and pass on traditional knowledge to future generations. We thank Amelia for sharing her skills and all who attended for making the workshop a success.
