The Tatitlek Corporation and the Native Village of Tatitlek share a meaningful and collaborative partnership. Emphasizing the importance of unity, both organizations formalized their commitment on April 16, 2012, by signing a Memorandum of Agreement, which was renewed in May 2023. This agreement underscores our shared dedication to safeguarding the cultural heritage, traditions, and economic and social vitality of Tatitlek Village.
It’s a considerable job to keep the community of Tatitlek not only functioning but thriving. While out-migration presents challenges in maintaining public services, educational infrastructure and allocation numbers for both state and federal organizations and agencies, the MOA allows TTC to work with the IRA Council, in turn building capacity for supporting our community and cultural roots.
Through this MOA, TTC is strategically working hand-in-hand with the Tatitlek IRA Council to determine actionable priorities for community investment.
Key areas for collaboration and support include tribal governance and public safety, economic and employment opportunities, as well as community development and infrastructure initiatives. Past projects include the St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church renovation, the Graveyard Revitalization Project, the Kelly House renovation, and the basketball court.
“Through our MOA, we are committed to strengthening and empowering our Tatitlek community for the future. TTC’s investments go beyond profit—they reflect our responsibility to preserve our heritage and support the community and our surrounding lands and waterways.” – Sheri Buretta, Treasurer of The Tatitlek Corporation Board of Directors
“I am deeply thankful for the work done through the MOA, which has played a significant role in supporting our community’s success. It’s encouraging to know these efforts will continue fostering meaningful growth for the community. The guidance, recommendations, and insights from Roy and the board have been invaluable to the Tatitlek IRA Council. While a signature on paper marks the commitment, the Corporation’s hands-on involvement—working tirelessly alongside us—truly brings it to life.” – Nanci Lee Robart, Board Member of The Tatitlek Corporation and Tatitlek IRA Council President.
