The Alaska Federation of Natives (AFN) Convention is the largest annual gathering of Native peoples in Alaska and provides a central forum for discussing critical issues affecting Alaska Natives and their communities. The 2024 theme was “Our Children – Our Future Ancestors”. The event took place in Anchorage, AK Oct. 17-19, 2024.
The Tatitlek Corporation sponsored elders, shareholders and youth from Tatitlek Village to attend and take part in cultural celebrations, political dialogue, and advocacy for Native rights and interests at both the AFN Convention and Elders and Youth Conference, Oct. 13-16, 2024.
Sheri Buretta serves on the AFN board, and is the chairman of the AFN Convention Committee. We are also pleased to announce that Angela Totemoff was re-elected to serve as the Chugach Villages Representative.
This important event provided an opportunity to see old friends, make new connections, and for shareholders to participate in a Traditional Native Arts class at TTC’s corporate office. Attendees also had a chance to engage in critical discussions about the future of the Alaska Native Community and to stop by The Tatitlek Corporation’s booth.
Thank you to Tanya Totemoff, Glenn Christmas, Aiden Hendrickson and the Tatitlek youth for leading The Tatitlek Corporation’s exhibit booth, which allowed shareholders and community members to receive important information on shareholder programs and resources.
